Celebrate #nationalpoetrymonth with me.

Every Thursday throughout April, I will be debuting a brand-new work inspired by the poetry that has sustained me over the years. I have expanded my vision to work more narratively and am grateful to the very talented partners with whom it has been my honor to collaborate.

A few years ago, I began to create what I called poetry broadsides – single-channel video compositions combining my imagery with poetry fragments. Many of my early videos debuted here on Esthetic Lens and are homages to my favorite poets; Louise Glück, e.e. cummings, Ranier Maria Rilke, and Robert Creeley.

Below, watch Postcards from the Heartbreak Hotel, written by John Brehm.

More of Mr. Brehm’s poetry can be read here and here.
