Charlie Likes Music Podcast: Giants of Stax Part 2

Memorial Sign outside of The Stax Museum of Soul Music, 2005

This week (and probably for a while) I recorded the episode in my car. I recently started working work two day jobs, so instead of shutting down, I’m improvising!

The episode this week revolves around the music of the second period of Stax Records, from 1968-1974. We check out Isaac Hayes Hot Buttered Soul and discuss how Isaac is the quintessential Stax artist from this period, and how Stax moved away from embodying a specific sound to embodying an idea.

As always, listen here or subscribe on your favorite podcatcher.
