Working under the banner of MunkyHaus, bd miller built a reputation for his dynamic conceptual images of music industry luminaries including Marilyn Manson, Brian Wilson, Dead Can Dance, and Radiohead. In the mid—2000’s he turned his focus to creating photographs purely of his own imagination.

These images are not a literal documentation of sideshow. When I was a kid and sideshow was all but extinct, the disparity between what the carnival banner promised and what was actually seen inside the tent was usually a disappointment. These photographs are of the circus that lived in my imagination in those moments of anticipation. They are the dreams, nightmares, and fantasies inspired by those broken promises.”

My photographs are made using a Lynhoff 4×5 on T55 Polaroid film or traditional film, and were not manipulated digitally, nor are they the product of camera or darkroom trickery. Everything in the photographs existed, as you see them, if only for an instant.”
