“Luke Winslow-King’s latest album is an example of craftsmanship at the highest level, radiating a warmth and timeless elegance. Adept at mixing country, blues, R&B, rock ‘n’ roll, and folk influences intuitively and masterfully, Luke shapes a mood from many sources and shepherds it to a unifying place of acceptance and hope. Blue Mesa is both stately and approachable, manifestly proficient but deeply personal.”
1.What’s been keeping you up at night?
I’ve been sleeping fairly soundly. Getting up early to go fishing on my off days, and driving miles and miles to gigs promoting the new record.
2. What’s the coolest thing you’ve seen or heard lately?
The Lolo pass in Idaho was pretty beautiful. Listening to Charlie Patton.
3. What’s the most exciting thing you’re working on right now?
I’ve got a bunch of new material that I’m shopping right now as a follow up to Blue Mesa. Longer, more extensive instrumental sections to come on the next one.
4. If you could add anyone, alive or dead to your team, who would it be?
I really pretty pleased with my band at the moment and wouldn’t trade them for anyone. It wouldn’t hurt to have Whitney Houston helping out on vocals though.
5. When the movie of your life is made, what will it be called?
Drifter, The Luke Winslow King Story
